Club Manager

Burloak is a large club with many programs running throughout the year. The Club Manager will support members, staff, and the board by ensuring smooth operation of the club’s programs and other functions. Primary duties will focus on areas other than coaching and training athletes, but may include assisting coaches with logistics for those roles. The Club Manager will report to the board of directors and work on projects and tasks as guided by the board.

Youth Programs

Our Youth programs cover everything for kids under 14: Canoe Kids (U8-U12 weekly), Sprint Starter (U11-U14 2-week intro), Elementary (U11-U14 racing members), Youth Performance (advanced training for Elementary athletes) and any other intro programs. Youth programs will often coordinate resources and coaching.

Summer Program Coaches: Coaches for our summer programs will be responsible for supervising and developing our under-14 paddlers in Canoe Kids, Sprint Starter, Elementary, or some combination of those. Priority will be on creating a fun, active learning environment, and targeting specific development to each paddler. Summer coaches will work under the direction of senior coaches and program leaders. Each coach will have daily and weekly assignments, based on program needs and identified group objectives.

Spring Coaches: The Elementary program starts in May, as well as some introductory programs. Positions for the spring will be offered to selected candidates from the Summer Elementary coaching staff, to create as much continuity as possible across the whole training and racing season.

Performance

The Performance program is for all racing members 15+, covering a range of performance and commitment levels. Performance coaches will work together as a team to support all athletes in the program, with specific roles and responsibilities set out at the beginning of the season as appropriate to skill set and experience. The Performance program will be led by the Performance Lead, with collaboration with all Performance staff.

Masters

The Masters program is for anyone 25+ who wants to be part of our competition team. Masters Program Coaches will report to the Masters Coordinator while maintaining autonomy in running practices for their assigned groups with a focus on maintaining quality coaching for all athletes.
